Corporations and Abusing their Power
Corporations have been abusing their power to get their money out of low-wage earners. I believe that the people need to know what their getting themselves into before they sign anything with major corporations or major banks. The opportunity divide is supposed to be for the people that aren't literate in today's upcoming society but corporations are finding ways to exploit people's ignorance or misunderstanding of what they do so they do become in debt to them. As in reference to the reading, speaking on the lady Roxanne Tsosie, she decided late in her life to try and get herself together. She was 28 and lived off food stamps most of her life and didn’t even fully understand the whole concept of credit. So when she went to go buy a new car on credit at a dealership recognized by her friend, she didn’t know about the credit she would have due. But I do feel like in order to not become in debt because of credit bills you should be aware and know what you are signing or getting yourself into. So even though the car place should have told her about what she was getting into, I also feel that it falls on the individual to know about the funds she has to attain and sustain in order to have credit. Giving another instance of individual neglect of what they need to do was, Ms. Lakissisha M. Thomas she didn’t even know what “interest” was, and that’s definitely something you need to know especially when taking out a loan from a bank or major company. When you ask for a loan your borrowing money that the company will definitely want back and when you don’t pay the money on time you get extra fees and then you’re paying more money than you had intended. That’s how people become in debt. But as I said earlier in my blog this is a two sided battle that people need to understand and not exploit.
